Meet the Instruments Preparatory Academy

AGES: 5 - 7

Does your child love music and are they wanting to play an instrument, but unsure of which one? This class is for you!

Course Instructors: Jimena Shepherd

Course Location: Cascade School of Music (Studio 18)

Course Time: Weekly on Wednesdays from 1:30-2:15

Course Sessions: April 3 - May 22 (8 classes)

Cost: $200

Course Description: During this 8-week class, your child's love of music will grow as they discover which instrument(s) get their musical hearts beating! Beginning with rhythm and music reading fundamentals, we will explore piano, ukulele, violin, and drums in a fun and encouraging environment. 

Meet the Instruments Preparatory Academy class is not a required prerequisite to join Meet the Music Preparatory Academy class. Both classes can be taken together or interchangeably.

Please note: class size is limited. When a class has more students interested than space allows, CSM will use an enrollment lottery system to ensure a fair and reasonable access to our classes.

Refund Policy: Payment is due at time of registration. Class tuition is fully refundable if a cancellation is received more than 48 hours in advance of a class start date. A prorated refund may be requested if a student drops prior to the third week of a class. After the third week of a class no refund will be offered.

Classes cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, such as weather, will be rescheduled. If a makeup class can not be scheduled then a per class rate 50% refund will be offered.

Meet the Music Preparatory Academy

Is your child almost ready for one-on-one private music lessons? This class is designed to help your young musician for the next level of learning.

Course Description:

Join the fun as we adventure into the world of music. Explore beats, rhythm, melodies and music in our Meet the Music class! Students will learn how to identify and name notes, practice simple rhythms and apply them to the grand staff (foundational for reading sheet music someday), all through fun games and activities to make their musical experience memorable.

EMERGING VOICES

AGES: 10-13 (or instructor approval)

CSM is pleased to be offering a unique and dynamic voice class for aspiring young singers stepping into the world of music and performing!

Course Time: Weekly on Mondays from 6:30pm-8:00pm

Course Sessions: April 1 - May 13 (7 classes)

Performance rehearsal: Saturday, May 18th / Time TBD

Performance: May 19th at Tower Theatre

Cost: $240

Course Description:
Bring out the musical artist in you! Whether you adore the spotlight or love to blend into the ensemble, this class will build your confidence in singing and your love for music! Students will learn healthy techniques for dynamic singing, musicianship skills geared specifically for the singer/performer, and will have the opportunity to stretch their soloist wings in our workshop portion of the evening. The class will culminate in a performance for families at the end of the 9 week session.

Course Goals:

  • Develop a basic understanding of the voice with proper technique and expression for singing.

  • Develop/Improve sight reading ability. Be able to find/follow your part in printed music.

  • Perceive sound in meaningful patterns through ear training and group singing.

  • Learn to artistically incorporate pitch, rhythm, timbre, melody, harmony.

  • Hone performance skills in a no-pressure environment.

Prerequisites: No previous experience required. Only a willingness to learn and participate
