Supervision, Licensing, and Publishing

Join us for an immersive journey into the landscape of music supervision, licensing,

and publishing within the music industry.

Ages: 15 and older

Course Instructor: Ryan Kofman (Creative Director, Music @ Fox Entertainment Marketing)

Course Location: Cascade School of Music

Course Time: Weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Course Sessions: January 23rd - March 19th (NO class on March 12th)

Cost: $240 (Scholarships available)(8 classes)

Course Description:
This course offers a comprehensive exploration of the intricate facets within the world of music supervision in TV & Film. Exploring the art of composing music tailored to visual media and navigating collaborations with record labels and music publishers. We will also go over best practices on solicitation and knowing what to expect from a record deal.

Course Goals:

∙  Learn the language of music licensing and understand the long game of productions.

∙  Write music with a new goal of licensing.

∙  Develop personal and digital networking skills.

∙  Obtain a better understanding of the songwriting process.

∙  Leave prepared to control your own destiny.

Ryan Kofman’s Bio:

As the Creative Director of Music at Fox Entertainment, Ryan Kofman oversees the music strategy and direction for all Fox properties, including TV and digital platforms. Ryan has over 14 years of experience in the music industry, working with leading companies such as BMG, AWAL, and Kobalt, where he managed, negotiated, and secured sync and creative licensing deals for a diverse roster of artists, labels, and publishers. Ryan has also taught music supervision, music licensing, and song placement courses at UCLA Extension and Los Angeles College of Music, sharing his knowledge and passion for music with aspiring students and professionals. He has a strong background in broadcasting and business management, and he possess skills in management, marketing, and music. Ryan’s core competencies are music licensing, music supervision, creative direction, and music strategy. His mission is to create and deliver innovative and impactful music solutions that enhance the storytelling and branding of Fox Entertainment.  

Refund Policy: Payment is due at time of registration. Class tuition is fully refundable if a cancellation is received more than 48 hours in advance of a class start date. A prorated refund may be requested if a student drops prior to the third week of a class. After the third week of a class no refund will be offered.

Classes cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, such as weather, will be rescheduled. If a makeup class can not be scheduled then a per class rate 50% refund will be offered.
