Course Time: Class meets twice weekly

  • Tuesdays: 4:30-5:30pm (60 minutes)

  • Wednesday: 4:30-5:30pm (60 minutes)

Performance Schedule 2023/2024:

  • Bear Creek Elementary recital on Wednesday, Dec. 13th at 4:30pm (parents and families welcome)

  • CSM School Recital on March 10th at 1pm / Open Space Event Studios

  • Cascade School of Music’s 2024 Student Showcase at the Tower Theatre Sunday May 19th 2024

Course Description:

The Awesome After School Orchestra program is a beginner class (violin, viola, and cello). This class offers children a chance to get a head start on playing an instrument in a group setting. Students will learn proper position, tone production, rhythm and note reading skills, while learning how to perform in an ensemble with an emphasis on group collaboration and fun.

Each Wednesday class will include fundamentals of Mariachi Band instruments and music. Students will have fun with friends while learning note reading and singing in Spanish to create traditional Mariachi music. Students will learn three traditional Mariachi forms of Ranchera Valseada, Mariachi Bolero, and Mariachi Polka.

Ages: 8-11 We are able to welcome 15 students to this program.

Course Goals:

  • Develop proficiency in instrument performance

  • Learn basic note reading rhythm and pitch and music memorization

  • Develop confidence through stage presence and ensemble performance skills

Instruments: Students will need to select violin, viola, or cello. Instrument rental may be available.

Cost:  $800 (tuition) paid in 8 monthly installments of $100 on the 1st of each month October-May

Refund Policy: Payment is due at time of registration. Class tuition is fully refundable if a cancellation is received more than 48 hours in advance of a class start date. A prorated refund may be requested if a student drops prior to the third week of a class. After the third week of a class no refund will be offered.

Classes cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, such as weather, will be rescheduled. If a makeup class can not be scheduled then a per class rate 50% refund will be offered.
