Michael Scott

Cello

Michael Scott has been a professional musician since he and his bass moved to Greenwich Village in January of 1964.

He recorded and traveled with several groups for 6 years, playing college concerts, and night clubs in the US, Canada, Germany and Italy.

He moved to the west coast in 1970, met his wife Barbara, and started college at California  State University, Sacramento, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in music education.

He was hired as an orchestra teacher in Bend in 1978 and taught in Bend LaPine schools for 25 years.  For 20 years he played bass in the Central Oregon Symphony and the Cascade Festival of Music.

He has always been in a band, and has recorded three albums in Bend.  He taught violin, cello, bass and guitar but his 20 year love affair with the cello started when the Cascade School of Music opened.

His ability to teach technique and interpretation and a great belief in making music with others combine to carry forward the mission of the Cascade School of Music.
