Lauren grew up in Greenville, North Carolina, where she began taking Suzuki violin lessons at just four years old. Now, with 23 years of experience as a violinist, she understands both the excitement and challenges of learning an instrument. She has wanted to be a teacher since she was little and especially enjoys helping students discover the joy and confidence that comes from learning an instrument. 

Lauren holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the School of Music and Dance at the University of Oregon. While at the University of Oregon, she studied violin with Fritz Gearhart and Shelley Rich and specialized in string pedagogy, gaining experience with violin, viola, cello, and bass. 

Outside of teaching, Lauren stays active as a performer throughout Central Oregon. She performs regularly with the Central Oregon Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, as well as with the Cascade Chorale and Bend Opera. She also enjoys performing for weddings and other special events throughout the area. Making music with others has always been a meaningful part of Lauren’s life, and she loves helping her students discover their own connection to music.
