Bands and Ensembles

At Cascade School of Music, our Band Program is about more than learning an instrument—it's about discovering your unique musical voice while growing as part of a supportive ensemble. Students build confidence, musicianship, and creativity through personalized instruction that honors their individual goals and artistic interests. Along the way, they develop the teamwork, accountability, and collaboration that make performing together such a rewarding experience.

Our Beginner Feedback Band welcomes new musicians with no audition required and is offered multiple times between October and March, making it easy to start your musical journey. For students ready to take the next step, Youth Band classes run January through June. Auditions are held on October 24 for placement in these ensembles.

Our Percussion Ensembles offer exciting opportunities for students to explore rhythm, technique, and ensemble performance. The beginner Rhythm class is offered multiple times between October and March, providing an accessible entry point for aspiring percussionists. More experienced students can continue their musical growth in the Academy Blue Percussion Ensemble, offered January through June.

Throughout the year, students in our band and percussion programs have exciting opportunities to share their music with the community through performances at local venues and events, including McMenamins, Tower Theatre, and the Bend Summer Festival.

Young string players can also join the Awesome After School Orchestra, part of CSM's Outreach Program sponsored by the Pacific Power Foundation. This beginning orchestra meets twice each week from October through April, culminating in a celebratory performance at CSM's annual Showcase at the Tower Theatre—a memorable milestone for every student.

Our bands meet for 60, 75, and 90 minutes and monthly tuition is $100, $120, and $140 respectively.
