The Cascade School of Music Band Department strives to create the most bespoke band experience possible, focusing on the skills and artistic interests of the individual students. We believe that young musicians thrive in an environment where they have a stake. Instead of an open audition where the most skilled players from each discipline are automatically placed together, we engage our students to see what their interests are so that we can do our best to create ensembles that not only match each other from a skills standpoint, but also align creatively. At CSM, students in each band get to decide which songs they will play. This not only gives the students more agency in the group but also allows them the opportunity to practice group dynamics and problem-solving skills.  

Feedback beginner band and Drumheads beginner percussion ensembles are now open for Fall registration and no audition is required.

Auditions for all other bespoke bands, during which we will learn more about each student, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 25 & 26. Band classes begin in January, run through April or July, and have multiple performance opportunities including McMenamins, the Tower Theatre, and Bend Summer Festival.

Our bands meet for 60, 75, and 90 minutes and monthly tuition is $100, $120, and $140 respectively.
